About Becky…
As a 37-year resident of La Mirada, I would bring an independent perspective to the board. As a mother of five NLMUSD graduates and grandmother of two current students, I care about keeping neighborhood schools open. For several years I volunteered providing one-on-one therapy to elementary and high school students in our district at the request of their parents. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I look forward to improving the lives of kids and families across our district. I believe my training in mental health services would be an asset to the board as more mental health services are moved into our schools. As a business owner, I am familiar with budgets and the necessity of sound fiscal decisions.
I am a graduate of Vanguard University of Southern California, earning a Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Anthropology, Minor in Education at University of California Riverside. I retired from Biola University after completing 23 years in Financial Aid counseling. I currently operate a private practice.
It is my desire to serve the families of Norwalk and La Mirada who entrust their children and grandchildren to NLMUSD for a K12 education. Our children are our most precious resource. They deserve access to a vigorous academic program that leads to proficiency in core subjects and the opportunity to acquire marketable skills.
I support investment in programs such as Southeast Academy, transitional kindergarten, dual enrollment, dual immersion, Athletics, STEM, vocational programs, arts, as well as improved test scores, reduced class size, and elimination of wasted funds on unneeded expenses.
